Product Description

A double crinoid bed featuring a stunningly detailed Agariocrinus Americanus crinoid and a Histocrinus Coreyi crinoid.

Crinoids are also know as Sea Lilies because of their strong resemblance to plants.

Found in the Lower Carboniferous Crawfordsville deposits, USA. Crinoids flourished in this region because they were filter-feeders and most of the particles in the clear oceans of this time would have been food. They had microscopic tentacles and would have been unable to feed if there was much sediment in the water.

Found in the Edwardsville Formation, Crawfordsville, Indiana.

Lower Carboniferous, circa 340 million years old.
