HYLODECRINUS ASPER CRINOID
A very detailed fossil of a crinoid of the species Hylodecrinus Asper.
Crinoids were aquatic and fed by filtering small particles of food from the water, with their feather-like arms which are particularly well preserved in this specimen.
Found in the Edwardsville Formation, Crawfordsville, Indiana.
Dating to the Lower Carboniferous, circa 340 million years old.
