Pyritized Ammonite Natural Imprint
The perfectly preserved negative imprint of an ammonite on a mudstone matrix. Although these amazing bright golden ammonite negatives look like they have been gilded, the colour is entirely natural, with the mineral Iron Pyrite (or ‘fool’s gold’) giving then their distinctive gleam.
From Untersturmig, Germany, of the species Pleuroceras Spinatum. Late Jurassic, circa 185 million years old.
In its original mudstone matrix. Some pieces will contain more than one negative.
Price includes a small display stand.
The ammonite negatives are 4-6 cm.
