Prehistoric Elm leaf
A specimen of a Ulmus (elm) leaf from the Green River Formation, a 90,000 square mile region covering parts of Utah, Wyoming and Colorado that is dense with fossilised remains.
The unusual chemistry of this region has led to the detailed preservation of a wide variety of the thick vegetation that thrived in this area, as well dinosaurs and vast swathes of marine life.
This leaf was found in Uintah County, Utah, USA.
Of the Eocene age, circa 50 million years old.
