Trilobites were marine arthropods that flourished all over the world’s oceans from the beginning of the Cambrian period -around 570 million years ago- until their extinction around 240 million years ago.
Trilobites' exoskeleton lend them to preserving particularly well and as such they are really well represented in the fossil record.
