Ammonite Dactylioceras slice
The polished cross section of a Dactylioceras ammonite. The preparation of these ammonites highlights the crystalline formations inside the once empty chambers of the ammonite shell. Ammonites from this UK region also contain iron pyrite, or ‘fool’s gold’, giving them a natural glimmer in the right light.
From Whitby, Yorkshire, England.
Jurassic, circa 180 million years old.
Ammonite will be approximately 5cm - 7cm.
