Scyphocrinites Elegans criniod bed
A striking bed of 6 Scyphocrinites Elegans (Mahoumacrinus) crinoid heads.
Known as ‘sea lilies’ because of their strong resemblance to plants, crinoids are filter feeding aquatic animals closely related to sea urchins and are still found in our oceans today.
The earliest of known examples date to circa 510 million years ago.
Found in early Devonian deposits in Alnif, Morocco. Circa 410 million years old.Exceptional Item Notes
